Letting a home? Be one of the first landlords on Mursten — it is free, and we will help you create your listings.

For landlords

How it works

From search to viewing

Three steps. No sign-up fees, no waiting lists, no middleman taking a cut.

Search

Find homes on the map or in the list. Filter by price, size, rooms and type, and save the search so you hear about new ones.

Message

Contact the landlord inside the app. No phone numbers handed out, and no email lost to a spam filter.

See the home

The landlord posts viewing times and you book the one that suits you. The arrangement stays in the chat, so you can both find it again.

Two sides of one app

Both when you are looking, and when you are letting

Mursten is one app with two modes. You switch between them with a single tap under your profile — no second account.

You are looking for a home

An overview of the market, without checking it yourself every day.

  • Search by city, address or postal code
  • Filter by price, size, rooms and type
  • Save searches and hear about new matches
  • Save homes, and see when the price drops
  • Message the landlord and book a viewing

It is free. There is no charge for searching, saving or messaging a landlord.

You are letting a place out

A listing that gets seen, and the enquiries in one place.

  • Photos, floor plan, price and description
  • Shown in the feed, in search and on the map
  • Every enquiry in one inbox
  • Viewing times that tenants book themselves
  • Open house with the number of attendees you choose

Letting out is free. You pay nothing to create listings or receive enquiries. Mursten is free — for landlords and home seekers alike.

Safety

Never pay before you have seen the home

Rental fraud almost always follows the same pattern: you are asked to transfer a deposit or prepaid rent for a home you have never set foot in. The listing looks real. The photos are borrowed from someone else.

Mursten does not handle payments. All payment is arranged directly between tenant and landlord, and we never touch it. So it holds every time: do not transfer money, and never share MitID or card and bank details before you have seen the home with your own eyes.

If you are asked to pay, or to move the conversation to SMS or email, that is the pattern. Report it in the app — on the listing or in the chat.

What happens when I report something?

The report goes to moderation and is reviewed. We remove content and close accounts for breaches of the terms.

You can also block a user. Then you can no longer see or contact each other, and no reason is required.

Can the landlord see my address or phone number?

No. The landlord sees the name on your profile and whatever you write in the chat. Your phone number is only used if you provide it yourself.

Why do you ask for my date of birth?

Because you must be 18 to create an account. The date is only used to confirm your age and is not shown to other users.

How do I sign in?

With your phone number (you get a code by SMS), with email and password, or with Apple or Google. It is the same account in the app and here on mursten.app.

If you cannot find your account again, it is almost always because a different sign-in method or a different Apple or Google account was chosen than the first time.

Can I delete my account?

Yes — here on the website under Profile → Privacy and data → Delete account, or in the app under Profile → Account → Delete account. Your account, listings, messages and photos are permanently removed.

It cannot be undone, and you do not need to write to us to have it done.

What does it cost to let a place out?

Nothing. Creating listings and receiving enquiries from home seekers is free.

New to Denmark?

Renting in Denmark, in English

Many homes on Mursten are furnished flats and houses for people moving to Denmark for work or study. The site and the iPhone app both work in English, while the listing texts are written by the landlords themselves, so some are only in Danish. A few rules are worth knowing before you sign anything.

  • A landlord can ask for a deposit of at most three months’ rent and at most three months’ rent paid in advance, on top of the first month’s rent. Those limits are set by the Danish Rent Act (lejeloven).
  • Ask for a written lease. Most landlords use the standard Danish contract, and anything unusual is listed under its special terms.
  • Never transfer money for a home you have not seen, and never share your MitID, passport scan or bank details with someone you have only met online.
  • If a landlord wants to move the conversation off Mursten straight away, or asks you to pay through a “booking service”, report the listing.

This is general information, not legal advice. Our more detailed guides are in Danish: Mursten guides.

The app

The whole market on the map

On your phone you see the homes on the map, save the ones you like, and hear about new ones that match your search. You message the landlord in the app and book a viewing in the same place.

The app is for iPhone and requires iOS 18. On Android and desktop you use mursten.app in the browser — the search is the same.

Download on the App Store
Mursten on iPhone, iPad, Android and computer: the app shows available rental homes on a map of Denmark, and the website shows the search with photos of the homes.
